Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on July 8, 1989 in Paris. After moving to Oxfordshire at the age of five, Emma attended the Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma knew she would like to be an actor and for a number of years she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned singing dancing and acting. At the age of ten the actress took part in as the lead in several Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. In 1999 casting began to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered as a casting agent through her Oxford drama teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that following eight auditions Emma and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first appearance in a film was as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. The film broke records for opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings and was the highest-grossing film in 2001. The film was praised by critics who praised the film, and especially those who were young. The Daily Telegraph, a popular British newspaper, was awed by her for her outstanding performance. Then Emma was nominated for five awards for her performance in the film winning her the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in a Film. Film.
